Background:
Starting in 2011, the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate (OCYA) has hosted or co-hosted this event biennially, featuring thought-provoking sessions on child legal representation and how to represent this most vulnerable population in the best possible way. We have gathered in Banff, Jasper, Calgary, Edmonton, Enoch, and Canmore.

​The Conference
The conference will be offered in person. Speakers and attendees will appear in person. Pre- and post-conference recordings may be available. Over the two days, attendees can expect keynote speakers, breakout sessions, experiential Indigenous learning sessions, panels, information booths, and opportunities to network.
Conference Goals:
We’re excited to work together to share innovative practices and valuable experiences! This conference aims to:
  1. showcase exemplary legal representation for children,
  2. explore effective techniques when advocating for young people, and
  3. highlight the essential role of connections in the lives of children and youth.
This conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on current practices and develop new strategies to achieve better outcomes for children and youth.

Who attends the Conference?
In the past, each conference has been attended by over 100 delegates, including judges, lawyers, advocates, social workers, psychologists, researchers, teachers, and others.
Attendees will be able to view videos of most sessions after the event.
